A One of a Kind Trail Run
KRyS Global is the title sponsor and organizer of a unique running race in the Cayman Islands called Off The Beaten Track.
OTBT is an ultra-marathon designed to create the atmosphere of the ultra-distance race run every year in the hot sands of Morocco - the Marathon des Sables. As the name implies, the course is a complex route incorporating beach, dyke roads, back streets, potential water crossings, bush trekking, and more!
The race consists of teams of 6 running in relay over a distance of at least 50 kilometers. For fit and seasoned runners, the race is challenged as an individual effort, which is undoubtedly an extreme undertaking in the sizzling sun of the Cayman Islands!
Every year, we encourage runners from all around the globe to join us! Our vision is to see OTBT recognized as a premier, international running competition.
Partial proceeds are donated to Cayman Islands’ charities, in particular those who aide children in the local Cayman community.
Remaining monies are donated to Facing Africa – a charity dedicated to helping children in Nigeria and Ethiopia who suffer from NOMA, an acute and ravaging gangrenous infection affecting the face. The mortality rate for this disease is estimated at about 90%. Facing Africa helps provide funding for teams of volunteer surgeons to travel to Africa to perform facial reconstruction surgery on victims of NOMA and for the acquisition of related medical equipment.
