Off the Beaten Track - A One of a Kind Trail Run.
Sunday 27 February 2011.

Online registration at www.caymanactive.com

Facing Africa is a charity dedicated to helping sufferers of NOMA, a severe flesh eating disease, which affects young children, the poverty stricken and malnourished that live in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is estimated that over 140,000 new cases are recorded every year, of which 90% will be fatal.

This is your chance to help while also having some fun with friends
and colleagues!

We are asking your organization to join some of Cayman’s most reputable financial and professional services firms in entering a team for this one of a kind ultra-marathon.

Trail mapThe fun will start at 6:30am with teams running in relay over a distance of approximately 50 kilometres in a local attempt to create the atmosphere of the Marathon des Sables ultra-distance race run each year in the hot sands of Morocco!

For the very fit and seasoned runners, the course can also be challenged as an individual effort that will undoubtedly be a life experience.

All monies raised will be used to pay the transport costs of teams of up to 5 surgeons, their medical assistants and the purchase of medical materials. Each visit to Africa costs an average of $100,000.

There will be a nominal prize for the “winning” team with a BBQ and medal distribution ceremony.

To participate or for more information regarding entry fees and sponsorship contact Kenneth Krys at Kenneth.Krys@krysandassoc.com or call 815 8401.
